To College or Not to College Pt. 5

To College or Not to College Pt. 5 To College or Not to College Part Five GET A JOB There are many jobs that do not require a college degree. And that job could lead to a life long career. With promotions you can start out as an associate and end up the general manager or even an owner of a franchise. It has happened many times in America so it is possible. It takes time and patience (all good things do), but it is still possible. You can also go to career fairs. Even without a college degree you can receive a good job at a career fair. Especially if you have a good resume with certifications and volunteering (we discussed those things already. I hope you remember) TRAVEL If you were smart enough to save for college or your parent’s were then you have the money. Take a year off from schooling (right after high school) and travel. Either in your country (from state to state) or outside (you’ll need a passport) from country to country. Not only will you see and experience things, peopl

DANCE AGAIN

DANCE AGAIN   When I was a child, I would dance I'd dance every time I had the chance I did not care who would see me It was me I was not afraid to be I'd dance to Gospel, country, reggae or hip hop Disco, Electronic, Latin, or bebop I dance anywhere, it really didn't matter Until my self-esteem, my peers did shatter They would criticize, laugh, and joke My confidence in me now was broke I'd hear the music and would want to move But I would hear their laughs and ignore the groove There was a time I would dance and not care But now dance in public I wouldn't dare I noticed my life was not the same Dull, boring, and full of shame I would try to return to the mind of a child But it just seemed too weird, crazy and wild But today as I sit here and wonder Why did I allow them to still my thunder? I have lost me in the midst of my peers They have installed in me unwanted fears With a renewed mind I have decided to recover

The Morning is Rising (Song)

The Morning is Rising (Song) The morning is rising There is no more darkness I can see the sun is going to shine forever It’s going to take some time A lot of work, tears, and sweat But I know this will be The morning is rising   The morning is rising The darkness is peeling away I believe the sun will shine forever It’s going to take some time A lot of work, tears, and sweat But I know it has to be The morning is rising   I won’t wait for you for this change I will stand and be the change And when the times get rough I will remember to love And remember with love the darkness will die And the sun will surely rise The morning is rising   Step in the light Walk in the light Live in the light   I won’t wait for you for this change I will stand and be the change And when the times get rough I will remember to love And remember with love the darkness will die And the sun will surely rise The morning is rising   The mo

To College or Not to College. Pt 4

To College or Not to College. Pt 4 To College or Not to College Part Four NOT TO COLLEGE So many people are under the wrong impression (the lie) that college is the only road to success. It is not the only road it is one road and not the best road (depending on your profession). This section of the book will give you your options that have always existed, but because you refused to research you didn’t know (I hope you’re getting the point of the importance of research). As said earlier education is NOT expensive, college is expensive, but only one type of education NOT the only. You will now see your many different options, which again depending on what you want to do are much better options than college. TRADE SCHOOL Trade schools offer training in a specific training in a wide variety of skilled careers. The cool thing about these schools is they don’t waste your time teaching you a bunch of stuff you will never use at work. They won’t ask you when Peter and Paul will be meeting Je

BIRDS DO WHY NOT US

BIRDS DO WHY NOT US   Cardinals, canaries, blue jays, and pigeons Penguins, ostriches, ducks, and geese Robins, pelicans, turkeys, and chickens Swans, flamingos, storks, and owls Parrots, eagles, hawks, and buzzards Crows, seagulls, herons, and peacocks Falcons, sparrows, doves, and cuckoos There are so many birds so many species So many colors so many shapes So many sizes some with feathers others with none And still they live in harmony No hating no demeaning no talking down They have accepted their beauty And those of other birds They do not feather shame each other Some fly and some do not They do not believe one is better If birds can be beautiful and wonderful As diverse as they are Why cannot humans see the same? Just as birds come in different shapes Sizes and colors Humans do as well and still Are beautiful Like the crane, the passerine, and the sandpiper There is no human more important better More superior to anothe

To College or Not to College. Pt 3

To College or Not to College. Pt 3 To College or Not to College Part Three CHOOSING A MAJOR This is the most difficult thing to do. I will tell you why. Not only me, but people I know went to college, graduated, and then became successful in a completely different field. The field they are working in now has nothing to do with their degree and they have chosen to NOT get a degree in the field they are in. So, it’s as if time and money was wasted. I honestly cannot help you in this field. The only thing I can say is start volunteering in the community (churches, food banks, theatre companies, thrift shops, sports leagues, girl/boy scouts, etc.) around the age of 13–18. In volunteering you will find gifts and talents you did not know you had. And in finding them you will more than likely find what you want to do (which will be different from what you thought you wanted to do prior to volunteering). I know this may sound wrong, but that’s how I found out what I really wanted. READ FULL

SOW AND REAP

SOW AND REAP People call her Karma And I called her not Yet she appeared at my door Reminding me of what I have done In my forgetful past Maybe I did call her She is here I didn’t realize the magnitude Of plants that would grow From my little seeds My seeds of ugly My seeds of awfulness I try to be angry with What she has brought me But I am reminded Only a hypocrite is angry With his harvest So I humble myself And take my memories Of my poorly planted seeds And find those who are awaiting My apologies As difficult as it seems I find the strength The courage And the discipline To speak my sorries And mend broken Hearts, minds, and souls And as I atone I find myself less Angry at the harvest Karma Has brought me From "Poems from the Other Side" http://www.lulu.com/shop/casey-bell/poems-from-the-other-side/paperback/product-24161387.html

IF I HAD A PENNY

IF I HAD A PENNY   If I had a penny for every time, I wanted to slap you I would be wealthier than gold, land, and oil Why must you be so annoying? Can’t you see it is not flattering? Your words are so condescending Arrogant and immature Your actions are selfish Self-centered and egotistic You spend your time complaining Down-talking, never uplifting And your pessimistic ways make me wonder Why do you live? Is your self-hatred strong enough to tear hearts? Do you even realize how awful you are? If I had a penny for every time, I wanted to slap you I’d have enough to bury you Deep in a mountain of coins To make you realize how irritating you are Do you even hear me now? Or do you think this is for someone else? If I had a penny for every time, I wanted to slap you I could travel the world Far enough to get away from you From "Poems from the Other Side" http://www.lulu.com/shop/casey-bell/poems-from-the-other-side/paperback/produc

Literacy levels are at an all-time low. After decades of false promises by the school system, parents are still demanding educational equality, blaming the school system for their child not excelling academically and not realizing what students face while trying to obtain a good & thorough education. The Diary of Stephanie Dane examines the impact students' deal with in school and challenges parents, and the community to respond. Casey Bell, playwright and author of The House on Atticus Lane and Maria's Troupe has unmasked a list of issues our teenagers are often asked to participate in or be a part of while attending high school su
